AP's website and call center may share information that is inaccurate for a district the size of SDUSD. To meet the requirements set by both AP and SDUSD, some adjustments are necessary.
Any SDUSD student may take any AP exam. It is not required that students be enrolled in the AP course to take the exam.
To order an exam requires 2 steps:
1- Students must register themselves in AP Classroom.
2 - Students must pay the exam fee or request reduced rates.
Students who do not attend SDUSD schools may request exams but it is unlikely there will be available exam seats - finding enough proctors to meet the exam room ratios is already challenging with SDUSD testers.
SDUSD families who meet the eligibility requirements set by AP:
their family’s annual income falls within the Income Eligibility Guidelines set by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service,
in households participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), or in some states, Medicaid benefits,
unhoused, migrant, runaway, or in foster care
enrolled in a federally funded Head Start Program
2 steps:
1 - families will complete the LCFF form = this is the qualification form for exam discounts
2 - fill out a google form = this gives AP Coordinator permission to search if you meet the qualifications for exam discounts
If families are eligible, AP will discount the standard exam fee and SDUSD will pay the remainder of the standard exam fee. Any cancel, late, or exam-only fees will be paid by scholar or family.
Exam fees and deadlines are set by AP.
The date that scholars join AP Classroom will determine the exam fee.
BEFORE NOVEMBER 1
AP courses that begin in August = $tbd standard fee
"exam only" orders = $10 additional charge
NOVEMBER 2 TO MARCH 1
AP courses that begin after August = $tbd standard fee
AP courses that begin in August = $tbd + $tbd late order fee
"exam only" orders = $50 additional charge
MARCH 2 TO MAY 13
Any AP new exam order will be for the late exam date ONLY
$X = $tbd standard fee + $tbd late order fee + $tbd late date fee
"exam only" orders = $100 additional charge
Exam fees are determined by both the date of registration on AP website and date of cancellation.
Students who paid standard exam fees and cancel before the deadlines will be eligible for a refund. Students will fill out a Google form which will be processed within a week.
Students who qualified for reduced rates MAY owe cancel fees. AP keeps half the exam fee as a cancel fee so depending on what you paid, you may owe the difference.
Student who qualified for free exams WILL owe cancel fees. The agreement was SDUSD would pay the exam fee for students who qualify but students would be responsible for late/cancel fees. It will be attached to student's SchoolCash account like a lost Chromebook.
BEFORE NOVEMBER 1
any exam order will receive 100% refund
NOVEMBER 2 TO MARCH 1

final day to cancel with partial refund (exception = seniors)
APRIL 15

Scholar cannot login to Bluebook testing application?
SDUSD provides AP Scholar Cards to support easy login on exam day - saved passwords will not work on the testing app. All AP Scholars are reminded often to login prior to exam day to confirm all is ok.
AP requires schools start exams at specific times so there is not much time to wait for login issues. If the exam room cannot wait, scholar will need to leave the exam room, call AP to get access, then complete the late date request form linked below within 24 hours.
Scholar wakes up sick?
Complete the late date request form linked below within 24 hours. Some exams require materials be shipped to school and then transported to the late testing location so timing is critical.
Scholar learns there is no exam ordered?
Given that students must complete steps on different websites, it is easy for mistakes to happen. SDUSD sends many reminders throughout the year asking scholars and families to confirm the exam order is accurate. Complete the late date request form linked below within 24 hours.
