For the 2026-27 school year, the due date for student submissions for the State Seal of Civic Engagement will be as follows:
Fall Semester
For projects completed during the Fall Semester students must submit their SSCE Applications by:
Fri, December 18
Spring Semester/End of Year
For projects completed yearlong or during the Spring Semester SSCE Application deadlines are as follows by grade level:
12th Grade only: Fri, April 23*
All other students: Thu, May 28**
*Seniors can still submit after the deadline, but cord and seal will be awarded during the summer after graduation.
**Seal will appear on next year's final transcript.
In September 2020, California introduced a way for high school Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors to earn a special recognition called the State Seal of Civic Engagement.
If you qualify, you’ll get a special seal on your diploma that shows your dedication and achievement on applications for college and career.
