In our activity before, we talked about people living during the 1800s traveling across North America. Sometimes the pioneers would come across an area of land that was difficult to travel. Your job was to come up with possible solutions.

Pioneers, like the ones in the picture, could not have stopped to build anything more than a temporary bridge. Why not?

Although they would not be able to build a bridge to travel across the Grand Canyon, it is an interesting idea! Since a bridge is one possible solution, let's take a look at some information about bridge building.
