The Tacoma Narrows Bridge was opened in July, 1940. From the moment it was opened, it would sway and move. It was nicknamed Galloping Gertie.

There is no video for this one. This bridge was supposed to go across 2,800 feet, but also needed to be high enough to allow boat traffic to go under the bridge. It also needed to be wide because it had to have two railroad traffic, two roads, and two streetcar tracks! What do you think happened?
