Cable-stayed bridges have the cables coming from the towers down. They were created as a cheaper version of a suspension bridge, but could still go across a medium distance. The cables reach from the towers to the deck of the bridge.
Best Use: Spans of 500 to 2,800 feet (152 to 853 meters). They are also good for letting water way traffic underneath.
The Good: Cheaper to build than suspension bridges. Can span a medium distance. Faster to build.
The Bad: Still more expensive than other types of bridges except suspension bridges.
