Birney Garden History & Resources

Animal friends in our school garden

Over the years at Birney we have had lots of different animal friends from bugs to vertibrate animals and birds living in our garden.

Learn more about red foxes...and watch this cool video taken by a neighbor of Birney when they were walking by the school.

Please don't be afraid of these beautiful creatures. They help the garden!!

MAKE YOUR OWN

SEED PACKETS:

Here is a beautiful way to pack up your seeds. You can use old magazine paper to make it fun.

If this is too challenging use an old envelope and some tape!

BIRNEY GARDEN HISTORY

The BIRNEY Garden Program of today started back in 2007 when some families at Birney did a "garden makeover" with county television. Before that there were some gardening activities going on with the support of local community -- but this "makeover" brought the garden alive. Check out these videos that tell about school gardens and show the construction of the garden. What do you notice about similarities? What looks different?

MAKE A SALAD!!!

As we enter our HEART HEALTHY CHALLENGE -- Ms. Mindy Challenges you to make a salad for your family! Look at the ideas in this sheet: SALAD PEOPLE . After you have made your salad, take the survey here to tell us about your salad:
