This week assignment is about design a single 3D Object using Fusion 360 and fabricate it using 3D Printing.
I care about practice and know the 3D tools because it will help me in the final project.
The picture in the left is the inspiration model in this week. I thinks its perfect because it have a separate part for each similar objects.
The right picture is from my favorite movie i want to put it as a sticker as it have the same seem .
friends season 4 episode 2 last min
Designing process
Software: Fusion360
It have a nice futures for 3D modeling which will help me in the assignment
Fusion360
For 3D printing
Software: Cura Ultimaker (For slicing process to Know the require time and material for printing the model
Machine: Prusa MK2 3D Printer
Material: PLA
Base Sketch
select the center rectangle and make its center the origin of the selected plane 8*15 cm
I want to make it in shape of pot so i draw a triangle in the front of the shape
To make the part fully defined, i put the dimensions of each line with a defined one
I want to make a part for sticky notes because i use it usually
i search for its size and find it will be 7.5*7.5 cm
fully defined sketch
The remining part i will split it into 3 parts
1- For small objects size (I give it 3 cm)
2-For medium size (I give it also 3 cm)
3-For pencils and large object size (I give it 4 cm)
I have extrude each part individually
shelled this extruded part (2mm shell)
Repeat this process
Extruded-shelled part
Making the sharp edges with filet it very important for make any model looks good
So I make a 3 mm filet in the main edges
Make a new sketch and From Create>> Text
And I write my name
Then I make it extrude cut as shown
I was very cool and helpful to get a ready design and use it.
I get a ready DXF file from the internet and use it in my mobile holder.
From insert >> insert DXF >> choose the file you want and put it in the desired face
Extrude cut for the DXF design
change the appearance of the part was one of the main requirements
As shown in this picture from Modify >> choose Appearance >> from library choose >> plastic
Final output model
1- small size part was extruded by 1cm
2-medium size was extruded by 2cm
3-large object size was extruded by 4cm
4- sticky nots part was extruded by 2cm
To make a 3D printed object we have to out an STL file from Fusion 360
From File>>Export >>STL
To open the STL file in cura
From file>> open >>select the STL file
The object i design with the wanted scale i find that it will take about 4hr
I scale the size down to fit the requirements not more than 90 min and 30 gram
My pen holder will take 89 min and 22 gram while printing
Save G-code For the next step (Fabrication process ) to put it in the 3D printer
The preview of the slicing
Put the G-code in a flash memory(renaming it with the grams, mins and color.) and put it in the machine.
I started with clean the bed,
chose the file and begin to print.
heat it to unload the filament
Change Filament color to be satiable for the astronaut .
The printed the pen holder was 22grams in Green color and 89 mins.
Final output model
The printed 3D model
The 3D model After the machine had finished
while splitting process i want to trim the un-needed lines from the sketch .
so i trimmed 2 of the rectangle lines which by default made the sketch undefined and get a warning message
I solve this problem simply by making these 2 lines as a construction lines
un-defined sketch
Wrong Shell (section analysis )
I want to extrude the whole sketch in one time and then shell each part
but when i select the face that i want to shell it shell the whole body because there are no borders
i find making these borders in the sketch will be so hard .
So i solve this problem by extrude each part individually then shelled this extruded part (2mm shell) then repeat this process
Knowing and practicing how to deal with 3d modeling using software as Fusion 360 will help me to make this part from the final project easily .
As I'm now know how to make a 3D parts and how to assembly this parts together to make a final part which in this case will be robot arm.
As a in class activity we model, assemble, and animate the parts of a LEGO Minifigure.
Model the Head and Torso of the LEGO Minifigure.
Change the appearance of the parts to match the real ones.
make the head rotate 360 degree
The most important thing that i will never forget that i have to find the shortest way to reach the desired goal or target
as while we make the Torso we were had 2 ways which were:
Extrude: which is the ease way and it could archive the objective
Loft: it was the longest way to make this part and it would make some problem during the progress of the following parts
