pens holder
using Fusion 360 for design.
Ultimaker Cura software for 3d printing
this software to preparing design properties before printing, such as knowing the grams of the design and how much time will take to print.
This is PRUSA i3 MK2 3D Printer.
PLA material.
basics shapes of design
sketch from the origin on XY plane a circle with a diameter of 65 mm then finish the sketch.
choose a construct and offset plane of XY plane with dimensions 35 mm.
Draw a polygon with 6 sides and a radius of 45 mm on the new plane. then finish the sketch.
choose again to construct and offset plane from of XY plane of the polygon with dimensions 35 mm.
Draw another polygon with 6 sides and a radius of 45 mm on the new plane. and rotate it. then finish the sketch.
choose again to construct and offset plane from of XY plane of the last polygon with dimensions 30 mm.
draw a circle with a diameter of 65 mm then finish the sketch.
lofting
choose the loft feature and select all shapes.
shelling
To make the shape hollow
choose the shell feature and select the top of the pen holder.
with 2 mm.
fillet & appearance
convert Sharpe edges to smooth for better use.
choose the fillet feature, and select all edges of the pen holder with 7 mm.
choose the fillet feature again, and select the bottom of the pen holder with 7 mm.
select the top of the pen holder with 0.5 mm.
to change color. right click on body and select appearance.
drag and drop the material on the body.
stl file
choose the Body 1.
right click and choose save as mesh.
change format to STL.
press ok.
open STL file of pens holder on Cura.
change the setting to suitable for the requirements of the assignment.
adjust the scaling by about 50% to X, Y, and 65% to Z.
make the layer height 0.2mm.
Use 20% infill to make it strong.
check on Adhesion to make a brim. to make the design stable when it is printed.
slicing design to see the time (1h 22min ).
Numbers of grams 13g.
save file as .gcode to upload it 3d printing machine.
make sure the parameter of design is correct. with fab lab specialist E\Hussein.
E\Hussein suggests changing the profile to an Extra fast 0.3mm to decrease time.
slicing parameter:
infill 20%
layer height Extra fast 0.3mm
speed 60 mm/s
nozzle temp 215 c.
bed temp 60 c.
adhesion type: brim
upload the gcode file to the memory card.
insert the memory card into the machine, choose the file, and print it.
waiting for the output.
Title of Media
when slicing the pen holder small spaces appear.
give it a try in printing but it appears in close view.

edit thickness in design fusion 360 to be 4mm. To solve deformation when scaling down in Cura. (By E\Omar).
from the timeline in fusion, right-click on the shell to edit it.
change thickness to 4mm.
save it as STL.
adjust the scaling by about 50% to X, Y, and 65% to Z.
profile to an Extra fast 0.3mm.
Use 20% infill.
check on Adhesion to make a brim.
slicing design to see the time (1h 27min ).
Numbers of grams 20g.
change the thickness of shelling.
remove shell feature in design fusion 360, and choose parameter called Special modes, Spiralize outer contour in Cura (By E\Hussein)
from the timeline in fusion, right-click on the shell to delete it.
Export as STL to get high quality.
adjust the scaling by about 75% to X, Y, and Z.
profile to an Extra fast 0.3mm.
Use 20% infill.
check on Adhesion to make a brim.
click on the costume from the print setting, go down to special modes and check on Spiralize outer contour (it is mean vase mode know a practical function that allows you to print aesthetic and seamless 3D objects while saving material and time )
slicing design to see the time (36 min ).

knowing a new parameter in cura (Spiralize outer contour) print with good quality and decrease material and time.
knowing how to print more than filament color by gcode.
