I want to make a simple fan box, As I can control a simple fan with an on/off switch.
I used 7 segment display to act as the temperature of the room. As I can develop it later if the temperature increased, Fan Started.
This Design simulates Box fan, I searched on Google to inspire by a design which look like it, I was inspired by this design here.
I used Tinkercad to design and simulate circuit first, and to check functionality of the circuit.
I used electric components that will serve me in my project.
1- 5 v DC Fan 2- Switch 3- BreadBoard 4- LEDs 5- 7 Segment 6- Resistors "330 ohm / 100 ohm"
7- Crocodiles 8- Adapter 5v
Tinker cad simulation
At first, I started to make a quick test on components in tinkercad to make sure that connections are true before connecting components.
After that, I started to make the full circuit / project on tinker cad to check and make sure that it's functionality are good and behave as I want.
Testing components
After that, I began to add a switch and make it controlling power to the circuit by turning it on / off.
First, I started to check each element in my kit, So I can check that is works alone.
After That, I Connected another 7 segment and DC Fan In parallel to make sure that DC fan receive 5v and to make sure that there isn't a voltage drop because DC fan operating voltage is 5 v not less.
I Used adapter 5 v in my circuit to power the circuit with power needed and because of DC Fan operating voltage is 5 V. So, If I connect lower than 5v Fan didn't on .
And if I connect more then 5v DC fan and 7 segment will burn.
Test 1 Box Fan
Making Cardboard
Putting Components
Final Fan Box
This is Cardboarding Time, I begin to design cardboard for DC fan, I started to cut in material with dimensions of fan ,Switch and 7 Segments.
Then, I started to put each component in its position and make sure that power delivered to it clearly.
At First, I Started to connect 7 segments to the power by using Female to male jumpers.
and make sure that I connect Common to cathode
I want to show 8 num in 7 segment. So, I connect pin A , B , C , D , E , F, G to Anode.
And the other 7 segment shows num 5, So I connect pins A , G , F , E , C to Anode.
I also want to connect DC fan. So, I connect the red jumber into Anode and the other black into Ground.
I also used crocodiles to connect LEDs. I connect the taller term into Anode and the other term in led into ground, And Don't forget to add a resistor (100 ohm at least) to save LEDs from burning.
Final PC Fan Cardboarding
Breadboard Problem
At First, 7 Segment didn't show anything although that I connected its anode and common.
I searched for this problem and I'm sure that my connections is true.
Finally, I got the real problem , It's the Breadboard and I solve it by changing the breadboard to another one as shown because the Breadboard can't connect correctly.
In this week, I learnt alot about electric circuits and wiring and how to make a smart device look like my PC fan.
I thought that will help me in designing and preparing my final project circuit and I will add a power switch to control power in my final project to switch it on / off at anytime
This Week, I learnt how to deal with electric components and How to make a smart device that I put components and connect it with each others with a cardboard to make a smart device at final.
My Great Team, Number one :)
This Week, We made a cool sumo RC Car "سابق 1" from scratch. First, We design it on fusion 360 , laser cad and begin to fabricate it on laser cutter. putting electrical components "DC motors , caster ..etc" .
Then we started to battle with the other teams with their Sumo RC Cars and we beat all of them and got the 1st place.
