Week 3 - Journal
Ideation
Tell us about your assignment's idea for this week. Why do you care about this idea? What inspired you? (Please include images or links to sources of inspiration)
I was not having any ideas to what do this week for the assignment, till menna elbadry suggest we could get inspiring from searching on thingverse website, as i was searching on google for a pen holder with the 3 features (revolve_sweep_loft) but i found poor ideas, then l i found this idea and i thought to change in it somehow.
The design after printing it
the design that i got inspired by from thing verse
Tool Chain
Which software/machines/materials did you use in the assignment? Why?
website: thingiverse to get inspired
software: fusion 360 to draw the design but in 3d mode
Cura to adjust the desgin before printing
machine in fab lab: PRUSA 1 (The 3d printer)
materials: white PLA filament

Design/Preparation Process
Explain the design and/or preparation process of your assignment. How did you use the tool or software to design and/or prepare your assignment before fabrication/implementation?
I started by watching the videos of the exercises for week 3, and practice it, here some of what i did
i stared with drawing the sketch on the side plane with the half of the shape to use the revolve feature
then i started with the assignment
using revolve feature with 180 degree
then choosing this surface to draw the second sketch on it
adding the polygonal shape
choosing the offset plane to choose the same surface but with adding a distance
then drawing the second polygonal, and by changing some features in the preferences, i could match the two polygonal with each other then using the loft feature
doing the shell feature
adding the rectangle
extrude the rectangle
then using shell feature again
the final result from different perspectives
trying to prepare the design in Cura, to be fit for printing
set the time and the grams
Adjust the base and the preamter features
Development/Implementation Process
Explain the development/implementation process of your assignment. How did you use the machine/tool to manufacture or implement the design of your assignment?
As i tried before to print in fab lab with the 3d printer in week 1, so this time was more easier than the first time, as i was know how to start, i started by putting the gcode file on the sd card and let the printer read it, already the filament and the plane was prepared before so t started
observing the first layer, to check if its fine to continue or not
searching for the name of my file
everything is going fine
then waiting for the time that the printer while consumed to finished, it was 47 minutes
Community of Learning
Did you ask for feedback? What are the ideas that others have contributed or suggested? What was someone else’s idea that you built upon? How did you help your peers? How did your peers help you?
Sarah alaa was my peer in the time of printing this week, she was very helpful and cooperative as i couldn't remove the whole support so she tried to offer a help, and also we spoke about her design, how she did it, her design was unique as when it is finished, she left the support as the design fits more with the support more than removing it
Trying to remove the support

Thanks Sarah

Overcoming Challenges
When you got stuck, what/who did you turn to? At what point did you have to pause to research or learn more before moving on? What are some mistakes, pitfalls, or challenges that others can avoid if they were doing this assignment?
I faced a challenges when i were designing on fusion software, so i tried to ask different peers on slack, till finally all replayed me, but i understood more from Nada, i was thinking that the features loft means to twist the shape but Nada explained for me that loft means to extrude two shape on the different planes, as i was confused from the concept of loft feature what is exactly do

Final Project
How can you use the skills and knowledge that you've acquired this week in your final project?
As my project based on 2d printing (laser cut machine) and on knowing fusion software to create the design on it, so by entering this week i learnt more about the features of fusion and the adjustments, as that's will totally impact on my project
WOW!
What is the coolest thing that you've learned this week? What is something that you will never forget from this week?
I was searching for more techniques about 3d printing, till i found this video, and i don't know if it really could be applicable in real or just a video to grasp some views and it not real?
how to make a 3d printer at home
Weekly Digest [OPTIONAL]
Tell us about any other cool things that you've made this week: in the Hands-on activity, tutorial examples, exercises, or any other cool mini-project that you tried out aside from the assignment.
I was trilled when i tried for the first time to draw a 3d design, in the hands on experience activity, i just do it in 5 minutes even if t don't know any of this features, but i surprised from my self that i did it
