Blogging
Level 1
Level 1
With the advent of the social web, anyone with access can have a voice! What are blogs and how have they shaped the Net's landscape?
The origins of blogging date back to the 90's and the earliest days of the World Wide Web, though historians don't identify a specific individual as the first or father of blogging. Essentially, the very earliest blogs, evolving from communication tools like message boards, became a sort of online journal. Over time, platforms arose that made blogging easier and before long thousands of individuals, from those trained as professional writers and journalists to amateur writers began sharing their observations and thoughts online through blogs.
Over time, blogs diversified as many began to focus on particular topics. Today, there are countless blogs covering a countless variety of topics. The nature of blogging continues to change, too. Tools like Twitter (often described as micro-blogging) and Tumblr (multimedia-rich micro-blogging platform) are transforming online communication.
Regardless, one thing is clear. The online masses have a voice and it's transforming the flow of information in our modern world. Of course, there are no shortage of educators blogging online.
Some blog to share resources, some to foster advocacy, while others blog as part of their reflective practice.
Blogging can be an invaluable tool, helping you on your way to becoming a Connected Superstar!
