Fitnessgram

Fitnessgram

The Fitnessgram will be given once a quarter which comes out to 4 times a school year. We will prepare for the fitnessgram 1-2 weeks prior to doing the fitnessgram to get the students in preparation for the exercises to ensure the best results. The fitnessgram consists of multiple physical fitness tests that the students will complete. The first test is their baseline score and the 4th quarter is their final results. Throughout the year there should be a steady progress on their results. The fitnessgram includes: the pacer test, a 1 mile run, push-ups, curl-ups, trunk lift, the shoulder stretch, and the sit-and-reach. The students' weight and age will be recorded as well in addition to their names. We are looking for improvement from the students as the school year goes on. Students in grades 5th-8th will be graded on their fitnessgram not based solely on improving but giving their best effort, doing the fitness test that are required, and having a good behavior as well as sportsmanship during the tests. There are 7 tests that we take. Each student will start off with 30 points given to them. They will earn 10 extra points for each test that is performed based on the above stated criteria. The fitnessgram tests will go in the grade book (RenWeb) as a test grades and there will not be corrections or retakes on the tests performed during class. If the student tries their best during the tests and does not play around in between tests they will receive a grade of 100. Points will be taken off for behavior in addition to their effort given for each test.

Example of exercise chart and parent report to the fitnessgram scores is as follows. The goal is to be able to purchase the fitnessgram software so we would not need to use the daily fit log website as much as we do. We did find a new program we will be using and it is called IHT. Scores will be emailed to the parents and the students after each fitnessgram so you will know how their progress is throughout the school year.
