Friday, September 13, noon - Bob Lecari “Fused Glass” Bob is relatively new to doing glass art, although he has always admired art and those who do it. Bob had been a full time Aerospace engineer for forty eight years, until he retired thirteen years ago. At the time he retired, his wife was doing fused glass and was loving it. Being her weekend assistant, he learned the craft by osmosis, and decided to do it as well in retirement.

His glass pieces are for the most part “functional art”. They cover a wide range of functionality, from simple night lights to large bowls and light fixtures. His designs are inspired by local flora and fauna, as well as sea coral (as a result of having lived in Maui before moving to Bend). His pieces are colorful as he strives to leverage the exquisite brilliance of glass. He also incorporates a variety of glass fusion techniques.

In his “Lunch n Learn” presentation, Bob will provide a tutorial on the glass fusion process, as well providing overviews on four glass fusion techniques he uses (and provides classes on), namely Mosaics, Baskets, Pot/Screen Drops, and Pattern Bars. He will be exhibiting pieces representative of each of the four techniques. It’s a great opportunity to get a feel for fused glass and get answers to questions you might have regarding it.
