Connect Your Instruments or Microphones
You can connect instruments or microphones to the Apollo Twin MkII via the two combination XLRs on the back of the console, or the TRS input on the front.
Set Input Gains
Select the input channel to be adjusted by pressing the Preamp button until the Channel Selection Indicator displays the channel (CH1 or CH2).
Select the input type (mic or line) by pressing the Input Select button until the
Input Type indicator displays the desired input jack.
Adjust the channel's gain by increasing the Level knob until the input meter for the channel approaches maximum, but does not reach the red clip LED when the input signal is present. If the level is too high to avoid clipping (when the red “C” LED illuminates), enable the pad (13-d).
To set the input gain for the other input channel, repeat steps 1 – 3.
Adjust Volume
Select the output volume to be adjusted (monitor or headphone) by pressing the Monitor button until the Monitor Selected or Headphone Selected indicator is lit.
Set the volume level by carefully increasing the Level knob until the desired volume is reached (you may need to adjust the volume of the speaker system).
To set the other output volume (monitor or headphone), repeat steps 1 – 2.
Plug one end of the 3.5 mm aux cable into the headphone jack of your laptop.
Plug the stereo TS cables into the input on the back of the Apollo Twin Mk II.
Ensure the Apollo Twin Mk II and speakers are turned on.
Open your music player on your laptop or phone (such as iTunes, Spotify, or YouTube) and start playing music.
Make sure the Apollo Twin Mk II is selected as your audio output device.
Adjust the volume levels on your laptop, Apollo Twin Mk II as needed to get the desired volume.
Note that you may need to adjust the input gain on the Apollo Twin Mk II to get the best sound quality. You can do this by turning the input gain knob for the line input channel you're using on the front panel of the Apollo Twin Mk II.
UAD provides analog emulation plugins through their Console application. Plug‑ins like the included Teletronix® LA‑2A and 1176 compressors, Pultec® EQs, and 610‑B Preamp. To add an effect, open the Console application and select the channel you want to add the effect to. Click on the “Inserts” button and select the effect you want to use. You can adjust the effect’s parameters using the controls provided.
The Apollo Twin Mk II has been used to record landmark albums by some of the biggest names in music including Kendrick Lamar's "DAMN.", Chris Stapleton's "From A Room: Volume 1", Arcade Fire's "Everything Now", and Post Malone's "Beerbongs & Bentleys".
