If the nucleus motor slips off the focus ring gear try the following in this order. Use the wooden camera baseplate for maximum solidity of camera on the tripod.
- 90% of the time the problem is that the camera is rotating slightly on the baseplate away from the gear teeth. If you can turn it slightly with your hand it’s too loose. To fix this - check the wooden camera baseplate is fixed top and bottom firmly with two screws spaced widely apart in the baseplate. Then also turn the tripod knob that locks the sliding baseplate to stop play. (See photo below)*
- Check that the rods fix on the camera baseplate is tight and rods not turning. To fix - tighten all ratchet baseplate rod fasteners. See below*
- Check the Nucleus motor gear is in the middle of the focus ring gear, not off track.
- Lower usually (or raise) the motor on the screw track, push into gear and tighten.
- Last ditch, make the torque lower on the motor menu.
* Tighten the knob that fixes the sliding baseplate on the tripod.
