This page provides information in both video and some written form to assist with setting up a recording session in the Audient studios. It is highly recommended to utilise the documents and knowledge you have developed with your lecturers in combination with this webpage. We encourage students to trouble shoot as best as they can before coming to Tech Ops for assistance.

Ensure our new session has Audient I/F selected in the I/O Settings at the bottom right hand corner of the session creation window.
Create the desired amount of mono audio tracks. Name these tracks and set their Input & Outputs appropriately (e.g. Track 1 Input = Analog 1, Track 1 Output = Analog 1 etc.) and hit record arm.
To begin, ensure the console has been properly normalised. Make sure all channels have the ‘FLIP’ and ‘+48V’ buttons in the up position, Trim dial at ‘unity’ and Gain dial all the way down. While in the preamp section select ‘MTR’ so your Mic/Line signal will appear on the main metre.
On the channel you wish to set gain to, select the desired ‘Output Buss’ in the bus assign section of that channel. ie: If you wish for channel 1 on the console to go to Input ‘Analog 1’ in Pro Tools select ‘Buss 1’ in the Buss routing section.
Set the input gain for each of the channels individually. To begin with, turn on +48V (if needed), push the short fader up to ‘unity’ for the first channel you wish to set gain on. Turn the gain pot up until the desired level is reached on the console's main metres (also check the corresponding track in Pro Tools to make sure the routing is correct). Now select Mix in the LF section of the channel strip and push up the long fader to hear this signal. Bring the Stereo Master fader up to unity. Dial the Main Monitor pot to your desired level.
For each signal you wish to send to the headphones select ‘Pre’ and ensure ‘SF’ isn’t selected in the Aux A/B section of that channel strip. Dial up the Que A and Que B pots to 12 o’clock on the desk.
In the Master Auxiliary section of the console make sure Aux A and B Master dials are at 12 o’clock.
In the Studio Master section of the console, set Foldback A to source its signal from Aux A (Left) and set Foldback B to source its signal from Aux B (Right). Turn both Foldback Level dials up to 12 o’clock. Note: On this console headphone sends are referred to as ‘Foldback’ sends. If a stereo headphone send is required, for the headphone sends select Aux A Left and Aux B Right for both foldback sends A and B.
Select the Solo button so we can hear the headphone mix. Dial up the master pot to the desired level.
Note: We recommend having a pair of headphones connected to the headphone amp in the control room in order to listen to what the artist is hearing in the live room.
