Foundations of Algebra 1* Grade 9

Foundations of Algebra is designed to address core pre-algebra and algebra I standards that are essential for success in Algebra 1. The focus will be on pre-algebra and essential introductory algebra skills. The skills acquired in this course will help strengthen fundamental math skills and prepare students to be proficient in their subsequent math courses.

The skills acquired in this course will help strengthen fundamental math skills and prepare students to be proficient in their subsequent math courses. . Students will be introduced to the structure of the real number system. Students will study linear functions, equations both equality and inequality, graphing, systems of equations, powers, roots, polynomials, and probability and statistics.

Honors Algebra I* Grade 9

Students will be introduced to the structure of the real number system. Students will study linear and nonlinear functions, equations both equality and inequality, graphing, systems of equations, powers, roots, polynomials, and factoring. This course is designed for students to get an advanced understanding of algebraic concepts and prepare them for Honors Geometry.

Foundations of Geometry* Grades: 10, 11.12

Foundations of Geometry is foundation level and is designed for students to get a basic understanding of geometric and algebraic concepts. Geometry is the study of shapes and relationships. This course is designed to give students an overview of the basics of geometry for usage in daily life. Students will learn vocabulary of geometry, properties of triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, and polygons, similarity and proportions, and basics of trigonometry. The focus will be on real world applications and hands-on learning.

Geometry* Grades: 10 &11

Geometry is designed for students to get a basic understanding of geometric and algebraic concepts and prepare them for Algebra 2. Honors Geometry* Grades: 9, 10

Geometry is the study of shapes and relationships. Students will learn vocabulary of geometry, coordinate geometry, proofs, properties of triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, and polygons, similarity and proportions, and trigonometry. This course is designed to dive deeper into geometric understanding, including proofs and preparing students for Honors Algebra II and IB courses

This course emphasizes critical thinking skills and varied approaches to problem solving. Students will explore linear, quadratic, absolute value, step, polynomial, exponential, and logarithmic functions. Further, the concepts of graphing complex numbers, systems, and inequalities will be developed. Additional topics at the honors level that will be addressed include rational functions, conics, and the binomial theorem. This course will prepare them for IBAA and upper level math courses.

Dual Enrollment: Advanced Stats and Probablility* Grades: 11, 12

Full Year Course Number: 2150

Advanced Statistics and Probability provides an introductory college level study of statistics and probability. Students can take this course as a dual enrollment opportunity to earn 4 college credits through the University of Southern Maine for a small fee. At least one college level statistics class is required for most college majors. Topics include data gathering, random variables and their distributions, display, methods of descriptive statistics, probability, confidence intervals, estimation and hypothesis testing, confidence testing, regression, and correlation, and statistical analysis.

Senior Topics of Math* Grade 12

Senior Topics of Math is grade level and is designed for students to get a basic understanding of a variety of topics that are not emphasized in core math classes.Topics will include arithmetic review, ratios and proportions, solving linear equations and inequalities, graphing and writing linear equations, matrices, sequences and series, complex numbers, review of statistics, and equations of circles. This course will better prepare students for college level mathematics.

*Prerequisites: Algebra 2, and a Senior

IB Math Applications & Interpretation 1 SL & HL* Grade 11

Applications and interpretation is and advanced math class for students who are interested in developing their mathematics for describing our world, modeling and solving practical problems using technology. Students who take this course enjoy mathematics best when seen in a practical context. Topics include Sequences and series, linear and quadratic functions, rational functions, differentiation, univariate analysis, bivariate analysis, probability, exponents and logarithms, integration, geometry and trigonometry in 2D and 3D, trigonometric functions, calculus with trigonometric functions, probability distributions. This course is best intended for a college bound sudent who is intentding on studying a non STEM major.

IB Math Applications and Interpretation (A&I) 1 is offered at two levels, SL and HL. However, both courses are taught concurrently.

They will explore real and abstract applications, sometimes with technology, and will enjoy the thrill of mathematical problem solving and generalization.

Math Analysis & Approaches is for students pursuing paths where math is the focus (mathematics, economics, physics). Topics include, sequences and series, linear, quadratics, exponential, cubic, sinusoidal, and logarithmic functions, geometry and trigonometry, statistics and probability, and calculus. This course is best suited for college bound students where STEM is their intended focus.

IB Analysis and Approaches 2 SL & HL* Grade 12
