Recognition Ceremony Student Involvement
Student Introductions
The student introduction will be read as you cross the stage at the Recognition Ceremony. This is your opportunity to thank anyone important to you or tell us about your future plans. Ask a teacher if you'd like some help with this write-up.
Student introductions are submitted in Google Classroom - Due April 19
Grad Slideshow
Grads are asked to submit a baby photo, middle school photo, current photo, group shot of multiple students, a baby video, and other school-related video. These items will be used in the yearbook and other grad-related activities.
Sideshow photo & video submission form in the Grad Google Classroom - DUE FRIDAY DECEMBER 22, 2023 at 2:35pm
Musical Performances
It is a tradition at Stelly's to incorporate student musical performances into the Recognition Ceremony. Interested students will audition for the selection committee in the spring! Talk to Mr. Ziegler if you have any questions.
Valedictorian
The Valedictorian writes and presents the farewell address on behalf of the graduating class. Applicants will self nominate and short-listed candidates will make short presentations to the grad class for the Valedictorian vote.
Emcees
Two students audition for a selection committee to act as Masters of Ceremony for the Grad Recognition Ceremony held at UVic. These students are responsible for preparing a script to keep ceremony running smoothly, introduce speakers, and highlight important memories and achievements from the graduating class.

Ticket Information
The University of Victoria (UVic) has a specific ticketing process for the Grad Class of 2024. Stelly's Secondary School has NO control over this. Please read these directions very carefully.
Seat Allocation
The Farquhar Auditorium has great sightlines and acoustics from all seats.
The Recognition Ceremony Participation Google Forms will be date and time stamped in the order they are submitted. This information will be used by the UVic Ticket Centre to process requests and allocate best available seats.
Priority will be given to students on the Eligible to Graduate List posted on the Grad Google Classroom in May.
Special Seating Requirements
Any special requests for seats must be indicated on the Recognition Ceremony Participation Google Form (Split Seats, Mobility, Etc.)
Babies and Toddlers
Please note that all human beings must have a ticket, even babes-in-arms and toddlers. This seat must be included in your ticket limit.
Ticket Distribution
The UVic Ticket Centre will email tickets directly to the graduating student’s District #63 email address - date to be determined.
Tickets will not be emailed until all historical overdue fees and textbooks up until the end of semester 1 are paid/returned.
Tickets can be printed in advance and brought to the venue on the day of the ceremony or the ticket can be presented on a mobile device where the barcode can be easily scanned.
All tickets include the name of the graduating student.
The barcode of each ticket is linked to the seat. Printing multiple tickets for the same seat will not get multiple people into the ceremony.
Changes to Tickets
Once the tickets are distributed via email, students can contact the UVic Ticket Centre directly if changes are needed to the seating arrangements. UVic is happy to make changes if seats are available.
Making changes to tickets will invalidate the barcode on the original ticket.
Extra Tickets
If available, extra tickets will go on sale for $10 each.
The date for extra tickets will be announced on the Grad Google Classroom.
Extra tickets will be sold in person or over the phone via UVic’s Ticket Centre.
No online sales.
All extra tickets are booked in the student’s name and emailed to the student’s District #63 email address.
Note that the extra tickets will most likely not be located next to your original tickets.
Parking
On-campus parking can be purchased at any general lot meter.
It is recommended that families arrive early or purchase passes in advance through Campus Security. (https://parking.uvic.ca/ebusiness/cmn/index.aspx)
