Final Post
Content: Over the course of this project I have learned an incredible amount about both the civil rights and anti-Vietnam war movement. Most of all, my introductory period of research helped me to understand the broader problem and allow me time to look deeply into each of the movements individually. Then, through my research I was able to learn a lot about the actual connections between the two movements which is something that was the main goal of my project and really intrigued me in the first place. Learning about the connections between these two movements was a very exciting part of the research process because not only did it answer my research question but it also addressed my general curiosity about the two movements.
Product:In doing the academic paper and the oral defense presentation I learned a lot about how to take a project and research and turn it into an actual visible result. It was challenging to figure out how to transfer my data into conclusions and present it so that it’s understandable for the audience. I found a lot of interest in doing that and I found it to be extremely beneficial in my general understanding of big projects like this. This new understanding applies to my future learning because doing the project overall in both the presentation and research paper I was able to practice and learn more about how to formulate this type of research into actual results.
Process: Through the process I was able to learn a lot about myself as a researcher. I found that I was more capable throughout this process than I initially thought. When I joined both AP Seminar and AP research I found it to be an incredibly ambitious thing for me to do because I wasn’t entirely sure if I would have what it takes to complete all of the things necessary. I found that I was able to keep up with the research process and also continue progressing in my research even though I came across many obstacles and rough patches. I will carry this lesson with me because it’s incredibly important to have faith in yourself in your learning and also try your hardest to accomplish tasks you set out to do.
In the Future: There is uncertainty in what the future will hold but I am excited for my next chapter. I will be going to University In Australia to study Architecture. I am so incredibly grateful for this opportunity that I have gained so much from. Doing this research has helped me grow as a student but also as a person in general. It was so incredible to see my work pay off in the end and I am so excited to take the lessons I have learned from this class into the next chapter of my life.
A picture of my Final Presentation. One of my favorite parts of the research process
One of the first assignments I did in AP Research. "Summer Speed Dating" where I looked into many different topics and research articles to see what sort of topics I might want to do my research on.
Acknowledgements
First I would like to acknowledge and thank my AP research teacher Mrs. Dobos for helping me throughout this project. Her help was so incredibly valuable to my research process and I found her to be not only a great help but also an asset throughout my process. Many times, speaking with her helped me through the obstacles that I found in my research and set me back onto the right track when I was having a hard time. It was crucial to have someone to look to for inspiration and help me along the way but also as someone that was rooting for me throughout the entire process and only wishing for the best. I relied on Mrs.Dobos as a main support in my project and she fit the role perfectly and proved to be instrumental part in my research.
Next I would like to think my mentor Mr. Edward Villacres. As someone with unique experience being a history professor at West Point, He was incredibly helpful to look to for inspiration in my project but also to help refine my methods and research question throughout the process. He challenged me to constantly make my project the best it could be and to keep progressing throughout.
Next, I would like to thank Mr. Laudick, a teacher at a Rock Canyon who helped me throughout the process. I tried to work through the project as much as I could using my own reasoning and logic but having someone within the school that was willing to help me with my project was exceptionally helpful and is greatly appreciated.
Lastly I would like to thank Mr. Winkleman who helped me with these blog posts and refining my writing throughout the year. It was very helpful to have someone to look to if I needed help in writing, formating, sourcing, etc and also as a general support throughout the process.

Abstract:
The Civil Rights Movement and Anti-Vietnam war movement overlapped for a short four years, however they were both incredibly influential movements that had a huge impact on the United States. The Anti-Vietnam War Movement began in 1964 and lasted until 1973 and The Civil Rights Movement started in 1954 and continued until 1968. Both movements had mass followings, made news around the country and in many ways, altered or secured the views of Americans on political proceedings. These movements would have a lasting impact on America and are extremely intriguing to study because of that, both of these events are very prevalent and made such an impact on the course of American history which initially drew me to the topic. I'm looking to go deeper into the two movements to ask questions to find more answers and conclusions from the research.
