Education & Certifications:
I graduated, magna cum laude, from Adelphi University with a dual major in Health Education and Physical Education. I went into Adelphi playing for the women's soccer team, however, I quickly realized I missed playing basketball, as that was my first love. So I followed my heart and ended up leaving soccer behind and became a member of the Women's Basketball team. Since graduating, my basketball team has been inducted into AU’s Hall of Fame and has received the University's exceptional team award. After Adelphi, I later graduated, summa cum laude, from SUNY Cortland, with a Master's in Coaching Pedagogy. Additionally, I have graduate credits in Sports Law from Manhattanville College and a Strength and Conditioning background, from LIU, Brooklyn.
I particularly took an interest in fitness and conditioning after attending LIU. Which lead me to study in Dallas, Texas where I attained my personal training certification from the Cooper Institute (CI-CPT). My other certifications held are: Certified spin instructor (permanent level cert), former certified American Red Cross instructor for the professional rescuer for CPR/First Aid/AED training, now I maintain certifications in basic CPR/First Aid/AED training.
Teaching & Coaching Experience:
I joined Rye Neck’s teaching staff in 2005. For the first nine years of my career, I taught MS & HS Health and Physical Education. Afterwards, I was the K-2, lead PE teacher at Daniel Warren, from 2014-2017. In September of 2017, I joined the F.E. Bellows staff and have been the lead PE teacher for grades 3-5 ever since. I have coached Varsity athletics for a total of 17 years in my career, between basketball and volleyball. During my tenure as the varsity volleyball coach, I helped to run and oversee all 3 levels within the program. Over the years, I have coached at various summer camps for both sports; as well as coached AAU Basketball at the House of Sports. I decided to step down from coaching varsity to allow myself more time to focus on other avenues and self goals. However, I continued to help coach the Modified Volleyball program until I welcomed my first child. Over the 20 years I have coached, I've been blessed with wonderful memories and experiences that I will remember forever.
Fun Fact:
I am a huge animal lover and have worked part time with a local dog rescue called For the Love of Dogs, since 2010. I spend my summers on the horse farm in Ossining, where the rescue is located, taking care of the dogs, as one of their handlers. We bring them on daily outings, training sessions and engage them in various forms of enrichment activities. It is truly my happy place!
