Student's will be introduced to different major muscle groups of the body, each month. They will learn the location and action of those muscles; along with what exercises help to strengthen them. The students will be able to better understand how muscles work together in order to move the body. This type of muscle teamwork is called an antagonistic pair. As one muscle contracts, the other relaxes. An example of an antagonistic pair is the biceps and triceps; to contract - the triceps relaxes while the biceps contracts to lift the arm. In order to extend the arm straight again, the muscle work in reverse. Below are other examples of these pairs.
