RENDEZVOUS WITH TREASON: THE ANDRÉ/ARNOLD CONSPIRACY

This dramatic portrayal shares the history of two of the most intriguing characters in the American Revolu-tion—Major John André and General Benedict Arnold and their fateful meeting in Haverstraw, New York in 1780. The events following their collusion played out across Putnam, Westchester and Rockland Counties. The production allows these infamous men an opportu-nity to tell their side of the story and their motivation behind the plot that could have ended the cause of Independence.

THE TRIAL OF MAJOR ANDRÉ

This historic reenactment sheds light on this infamous trial of the Revolution, with characters in authentic period dress. It’s September 29th, 1780. His Excellency, George Washington has just learned the devastating news that Benedict Arnold has betrayed his country and was about to surrender West Point to the British. Arnold’s accomplice, Major John André, has been captured and faces a military tribunal at the Old Dutch Church in Tappan N.Y. A board of officers has been appointed to decide whether he is an officer of the Brit-ish Army or a spy. Washington has arrived at Tappan and will ultimately have the final word as to the fate of the now imperiled André. Characters include John Laurance, Major John André, George Washington (if available, the play can be done with or without George Washington).
