Introducing... OREO the Wolfdog! 4Russ' Class Mascot. She is excited to go on many adventures with the students of 4R. Check back regularly for photos and stories from Oreo and their new friends.
A Little Wolfdog’s Journey
Located on the Eastern Slopes of the Rocky Mountains in Cochrane lives a large group of Wolfdog’s. Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary currently has 55 permanent wolfdogs, split into 10 different packs.
Sadly, many wolfdogs are surrendered after 6 months because they do not make great pets. Typical wolfdog characteristics are fearfulness of humans, high prey drive, high energy, territorial, destructive, extremely independent, and being AMAZING escape artists.
To ensure her safety, this loving family of wolfdog’s sent their daughter to live with the students of 4R.
She was a little timid at first but loves to play with her toys and watch the students learn. Rosey the Cat and her didn’t get along in the beginning, but now they like to cuddle up in her bed and share cat treats.
She sometimes misses her family in the mountains near Cochrane but loves to FaceTime with her Uncle Horton once a week. She loves eating raw meat; but loves trying new foods. It is good to hide her food and make her hunt for it. She hopes you introduce her to some new things.
She is excited to be going on lots of new adventures with the students of 4R. Don’t forget to read your home reading nightly to hers or he can’t get to sleep!
Have fun with our mascot, take a few pictures and email them to your teacher. We will share your adventures on our social media!
