The very best writing always begins with a real-life, purposeful opportunity. While we are all at home there are many different opportunities for this to happen. Some fabulous foundations for writing could be; any family game, movie night, cooking experience, or neighbourhood walk. Your child may write to inform, explain or entertain.
Your teacher will set writing activities for your child each week, but if you are after something extra here are some links to help.
Writing Ideas for Enthusiatic Writers.
Write a journal of your daily activities. Collect leaves and other treasures to put inside your journal too.
Write a shopping list, keep track of what you need to buy on shopping day.
Modify a recipe, write out your new recipe with your modifications.
Design a treasure hunt for your parents.
Design a scavenger hunt for a sibling.
Write a letter, photograph and email your letter. Wait for your reply!!
Write to your teacher on a seesaw note.
Make a family joke book.
Make a sign for your front garden with a message for walkers.
Create a song, write it down, perform it and present it to your teacher on seesaw.

Pobble 365
Pobble 365 uploads a writing challenge everyday. You can click back on their calendar to find a favourite date and complete that day's activity, or complete the activity for today. Click on the image to take you to Pobble365.
Choose between adventure, fantasy, sci fi and scrambler genres to be given an exciting writing challenge. When it asks for your child's grade, choose the number one less than your child's year at school. Eg Year 3 = Grade 2. Click on the title above to link you to the website.

The day a tiger came to breakfast....
Google the word 'tiger.' One of the first options that will appear will say 'meet a life sized tiger up close.' Click 'view in 3d' for some serious fun. You need to use a smart phone or iphone for this function to work.
Write as a newspaper reporter to inform your people of this dangerous happening.
Write a menu for the Tiger to choose from.
Write a song to tame the tiger.
