We all know that both reading to children, and listening to children read everyday is of great benefit to learning. Try to do both everyday. Now that the library is not accessible these links below will provide you with other options.
All Rutherford Primary School's children are able to access a login for this site. Please contact your child's teacher for their username and password if you do not yet already have it. Sunshine Classics provides levelled readers for your children, just like the ones they would usually bring home in their book bag, as well as alphabet activities and comprehension activities where appropriate.
An online library for children. This is accessible for free during school hours. After school hours it will ask you for a credit card number. Login details for during the day have been sent out via seesaw to each child. If you have any problems please contact your teacher.
Auckland Libraries have a Libby app. This is downloadable and accessible for holders of an Auckland Libraries Library card. There are lots of online books to choose from for both adults and children.
Radio New Zealand has a range of audio books for children. If you have the book on your bookshelf, your child might like to read along with the narrator.
David Walliams is releasing daily clips of his own work. Tune in daily, or use the catch up function to access the last weeks worth of storytime.
If your child is ready for chapter books then this link would be a great treat for them. It is called Elevenses, however David is based in the UK.
