Become a S.A.G.E. Garden Docent

As a docent, you'll:

• Lead a garden lesson (about 40 minutes) for a class using our provided plans or one of your own

• Follow our simple, step-by-step plans or guide an activity you've created

• Supervise students as they explore, plant, harvest, or work in the garden

• Help keep the garden a safe and welcoming space

• Encourage curiosity and celebrate what students discover!

• Quality time with your student. Work alongside your child (or grandchild, niece, nephew!) and their classmates in a relaxed, outdoor setting.

• A front-row seat to their learning. See firsthand how they think, problem-solve, and grow.

• Community connection. Get to know other families, teachers, and students at San Pasqual Union.

• A break from screens. Enjoy fresh air, dirt-under-your-nails fun, and real conversations.

• No experience required. The lessons do the work for you; you just bring the energy!

There's no one-size-fits-all commitment. Work with your student's teacher to decide what works best for you:

• Lead just one lesson

• Volunteer for a couple of lessons throughout the year

• Commit to the whole school year as a regular garden helper

Every bit of time you give makes a difference; there's no minimum, and no pressure to do more than fits your schedule.
