These lessons take 1st graders through a full year of hands-on garden learning, following the natural rhythm of the seasons. In Fall, students explore colors, textures, and creatures in the garden while learning to care for the soil through mulching and composting. Winter turns attention to the fundamentals: the sun, water, and soil that make a garden work, along with practical skills like using a compass and planning next year's garden. By Spring, students put that planning into action: transplanting seedlings, dissecting seeds, and watching their garden come to life.

Each lesson is designed to be led by a garden docent in 15–45 minutes, with simple materials and step-by-step instructions, no gardening experience required.
