Goodbye!
Summer is here, and my last Journalism weather report is on deck. After almost two years of recording and reporting future weather conditions for The Roar, I am recording my final observations.
Temperature
Because of the irregular changes in climate this year, our summers are going to be hotter than usual. Sullivan Maine rarely reaches above 83°F, but just marching into June we find ourselves reaching 70°F before 12 P.M. (The hottest point of the day) meaning our temperatures rise early, resulting in warmer daytimes.
Expectation
Despite the higher rise in temperatures, we can expect comfortable humidity, and temperatures, but of course we can't have everything perfect for the summertime, as we can also expect drizzle, as percentages will continually be in the 20% range for precipitation.
Have you ever heard the saying "Red sky at night, sailors delight"?
If you have, perhaps you haven't considered that these sayings can be pretty accurate! For example, the quote "When clouds appear like towers, the earth is refreshed by frequent showers" is true! As it is associated with cumulonimbus incus, a cloud shaped like an anvil, that is usually the result of heavy showers, lightning or even tornadoes.
Fair Weather Farewell
As this is my last Journalism entry, I would like to thank my classmates for their efforts put into The Roar, because without them this newspaper would collapse. A special thanks to Mrs. Mathewson for allowing me to run my weather page, and for her help for the past couple years. I wish good health (and weather) to all!
