Previewing or Paired Reading Activity, Civics pages 616-621
Preview: By yourself, flip through the pages you are going to read and note the pictures, labels, headings, bolded words, etc. When you are done, think about what this chapter will be about, and then beging reading and do the questions.
Paired Reading: With a partner, you are going to take turns reading paragraphs out loud. When one of you finishes a paragraph, the other person will summarize what was just read out loud. If you agree on the summary, you both right it down as your notes. If you disagree, then you need to re-summarize. Next, switch jobs with the reader now doing the summary, and the summarizer now reading the next paragraph out loud. Repeat the process of reading, summarizing, and note-taking until you finish the section.
