Another option you have is Exporting Pages documents to Microsoft Word format. Once exported you can upload the Word document to Google Drive. The final step is opening the Word file in Google Drive with Google Docs to finish the conversion process. You can find directions and videos below.
The first step that you will need to do is create two folders on your Mac. One for documents that need to be converted and the other for documents that have been converted. Watch the video or follow the steps below to find out how.
Go to your Dock (icons)
Click Finder
This opens a window. Go to the location where you want to create the folder.
Go to the File menu at the top of the screen
Click New Folder
Type in the folder name
Hit Return / Enter
Repeat steps 4 through 7 to create additional folders
The next step is exporting the Pages document to Word format. Watch the video or follow the following steps:
Open your Pages document
Go to the File menu
Hover over Export To... and choose Word
Click the next button (ignore other options)
Choose the save location for the exported document
Click Export
Repeat for each document
Your files are now ready to be uploaded to Google Drive.
Uploading to Google Drive can be achieved with two methods. One method is a file upload, the other is uploading an entire folder.
Uploading single files
Open Google Drive
Navigate to the location in which you want to save the files
Click the New button at the top left
Choose File upload
Find and select your Word document we exported in the last set of directions*
Click open
The file will now upload
*You can select multiple files by holding the Command key and clicking each file.
Uploading Folders
Follow steps 1,2, and 3 above
Choose Folder upload
Find a folder to upload containing all of your exported Word documents
Click it and click open
The entire folder will now upload
The drag and drop method can also be used. You can always open the Finder, click a file or folder, and drag it into Google Drive.
There is one final step to complete the Pages to Google Doc process. It is converting the Word document on Google Drive to a Google Doc.
Find your Word document (a "W" for an icon and .docx is a good indicator of such)
Double Click to view the preview
At the top of the screen click the Open with drop down
Click Google Docs
Once the Document opens, rename it at the top left (Name it something similar without the .docx at the end)
Your Word document is now converted to Google Doc. Repeat for each document you want to edit.
