Grade 6

In the Sixth Grade, students will engage in Personalized Learning Time and in Project Time. Some projects will be contained within one course, while other projects will span across courses in the sixth grade.

Personalized Learning Time

Students and teachers will utilize the Summit Personalized Learning Platform, which allows for greater differentiation and customization to best meet the individual needs of each student. Students will be able to simply monitor their own progress toward mastering standards in each of the core courses and thereby be empowered to communicate their progress with parents and teachers.

Project time

Students will work collaboratively on projects to gain content knowledge and cognitive skills, while experiencing the need for their learning to solve authentic problems. Students and teachers will utilize rubrics that were developed in conjunction with SCALE at Stanford University to measure their growth in their cognitive skills.

mentor time

Each sixth grade student will receive weekly one-on-one check-ins with a mentor teacher to discuss the student's progress towards mastering content and growing cognitive abilities.
