ADHD does not look the same in each individual. While the common indicators of ADHD are impulsivity (acting before fully thinking, risk taking, react quickly), inattention (difficulty focusing or concentrating, easily distracted) and hyperactivity (lots of energy, moves quickly, difficulty staying on a single task), it can be experienced differently by different people.
1) Inattentive type - May not show impulsive or hyperactive behaviours, but have greater difficulty focusing, concentrating, and with organization.
2) Hyperactive type - May show impulsive or hyperactive behaviours without as much difficulty with concentration and organization. This type is less common.
3) Combined type - May struggle in all 3 areas: impulsivity, inattention and hyperactivity. This type is the most common.
