Ocampo's

Counseling Corner

My name is Claudia Ocampo. I've dedicated my whole adult life to working with children and families. Since 1999, I've worked inside the public school system in different forms. I've been a substitute, a teacher's aide, a case manager, a teacher and a school counselor. I also have my mental health license and play therapist certification. That's why, I think all my experience and training gives me a different approach on how to be a better advocate for you and your child. Encouraging and motivating students to reach their maximum potential is truly my life's passion.

I received by Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University of Long Beach in 2003 and my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Tarleton State University in 2008. I was born and raised in California but have been calling Central Texas my home since 2003. I've been married to my wonderful husband Zack since 2000 and have two magnificent daughters. I love Brushy Creek Elementary because of its community, warmheartedness and dedication for children's academic, emotional and social growth. Please follow me on twitter @counselorocampo. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate in contacting me.

I'm always here for you and your child!

Our BCE Counseling Mission

Our mission is to be an active advocate for each student's access to positive and enriching social, emotional, academic and equity opportunities to help them reach their full potential as productive, successful and mentally healthy members of society.

Our BCE Core Counseling Beliefs:

  • All children are unique and should be treated with respect, love and dignity.

  • Every child is an individual with unique needs whom with the support required can reach his or her full potential.

  • All children need to learn appropriate personal, emotional and social skills to achieve optimum mental health.

  • School counseling services are not a support benefit but an integral element of a comprehensive educational plan.

  • A collaborative partnership between school, home and the community is essential in children's development.

  • A comprehensive and developmentally appropriate school counseling program provides important benefits to all students by addressing their intellectual, emotional, social, physical, career, academic and psychological needs.

  • It is essential for the school counselor to seek professional development that enhances his or her repertoire of counseling skills to be knowledgeable on how to effectively support every student’s social, emotional and academic development to pursue desired life goals.
