My name is Donna Hafner and I am very excited to be teaching 5th grade at Patsy Sommer Elementary this year. I can not wait to learn and grow along side all the wonderful students in my room.
This year will be my 33nd year in education. I have been a classroom teacher for most of those years. I taught 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th. I have to say that 5th grade is probably my favorite grade. I was also a math coach for 8 years. I graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown and received my masters from Capella University. Teaching is definitely a passion of mine. I pride myself in being a life-long learner. I love math and science the most. Watching students have that "ah-ha" moment is probably the single biggest thrill for me.
I am married to a wonderful man . Between us we have 4 kids and 1 "fur baby". Our oldest son is 26 and lives in Denver, Colorado and our daughter is 23 and works full time at Camp Eagle. Our third son is 21, lives in Leander and works for my husband, and our youngest son is 18. He is starting college this year at TSTC in Waco. Our "fur baby", Tiny is a Miniature Australian Shepard who must walk daily or he feels the need to "customize" something in the house.
I love spending time with my husband. We spend our days at the lake. When we are not swimming, we can be found at our deer lease or traveling. My free time is spent putting together puzzles.
