About Cincinnati Youth Wrestling (CYW)
Cincinnati Youth Wrestling (CYW) is an organization that coordinates youth wrestling activities throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. CYW is made up of approximately 60 independent teams and clubs. Each team manages its own practices, events, and internal operations, while CYW serves as a central hub for communication, coordination, and shared resources. This website is the primary source of information for all CYW-related updates and materials.
Each wrestler pays a small annual fee of $5 to join CYW. Individual teams are responsible for collecting these fees and forwarding them to the organization. In some cases, local sponsors or partner organizations subsidize or cover these costs for wrestlers.
CYW provides an umbrella insurance policy that covers all registered wrestlers, coaches, and host facilities.
Each team pays $4 per wrestler and $5 per coach to CYW to cover insurance costs. (These were the 2024-25 season costs. 2025-26 costs have yet to be determined.
All collected insurance fees are paid directly to the insurance carrier through a monthly CYW payment.
Only registered wrestlers and coaches are covered under this policy and eligible to participate in CYW events, including practices, dual meets, and tournaments.
Teams must submit their rosters to the CYW Secretary using a Google spreadsheet provided by CYW. CYW maintains a master roster of all registered participants to ensure insurance compliance and event eligibility.
CYW organizes one major event each season: The City Tournament, the culminating competition for all CYW teams.
Only registered wrestlers are eligible to compete.
Wrestlers weigh in at one of several designated sites (up to 10) approximately two weeks before the event.
Brackets are created by age and weight using CYW’s tournament management software.
Each team participating in the City Tournament is required to provide workers at the event.
CYW also maintains a master schedule of local tournaments hosted by member teams.
Teams submit their tournament flyers (PDF format) to the CYW Secretary, who posts them on the website.
Each team selects its own tournament dates and decides independently which events to attend.
CYW’s role is limited to publishing and sharing this information for the benefit of all teams.
All CYW coaches must:
Provide current contact information,
Complete required safety and compliance training, and
Agree to CYW policies and codes of conduct.
These requirements are fulfilled through an online Google Form managed by CYW.
Beyond coordination, CYW actively promotes youth wrestling in the Cincinnati region. The organization supports wrestlers and teams by offering scholarships and sharing educational and event information through this website and other communication channels.
