The Journey

At Rosebery the Year 7 team passionately believe that the transition to Secondary School is a year long process and all our students will require support at different stages of the year in order to develop the skills they will need to thrive over the next five to seven years! 

Our Year 7 Journey is designed to ensure that all students have the opportunity to explore new skills and embrace new opportunities. As part of our whole school drive to promote literacy and oracy the Year 7 team have carefully selected three year group reads which link to the journey's focus for each term. Students will read these books and follow programme of sessions during form time on a Thursday.

• Term 1 focuses on building relationships and creating support networks, this includes team building and working outside of their comfort zones to embrace new opportunities. Our Year 7 read for the term is You Are Awesome! 

• Term 2 allows our students to explore the wider Rosebery community and deepen their support network while discovering their skills and passions. Our Year 7 read for the term is Chinese Cinderella!  

• Term 3 works to fine tune their skills in relation to the curriculum and develop the strategies needed to promote positive mental health. Our Year 7 read for the term is The Girl of Ink and Stars! 

The journey below outlines are plans for the year, however the journey will be tailored to the needs of each individual cohort of Year 7s and so further events may be added along the way!
