Year 11 – Post-16 Application Procedures – 2024/5
Applications are open for PETER SYMONDS COLLEGE from Monday 16th September 2024
To apply to Peter Symonds, your on-line application (with personal statement inserted) must be made
before Friday 29th November 2024 if you want to have an interview in school.
Interview dates have already been booked for 16/17/18th December 2024 in school, so the intervening period is needed to create and distribute internal interview schedules. Applications made after 29th November must be made before their
final deadline on 9th December 2024 and these late candidates will be interviewed at the college.
Applications are open for BARTON PEVERIL COLLEGE from Monday 16th September 2024
And their deadline is Friday 14th February 2025 – Interviews will be by telephone from Mid-October 2024
This year Barton Peveril will be asking you the following questions on your application -:
· Why do you believe Barton Peveril is the right college for you?
· Why do you want to study your course choices in particular, and what are your plans after college?
· How has your time at school prepared you for studying at college? (Please tell us about other extra-curricular experiences or activities that have prepared you to be a contributing member of our college community?)
This information should have been included in your Personal Statement.
Other colleges do not have specific deadlines, but we advise all our pupils to make applications before Christmas.
To any type of Post-16 interview you will be expected to take your personal records, school print out of predicted/target grades, and any relevant information or project work with you. You are also advised to have fully researched information on the different courses, and career ideas that interest you as they are obvious areas for discussion with anyone seriously wanting a place at college, a job, or training placement.
Don’t forget to apply for taster days offered by some colleges.
