Course Summary
History is an academic subject that requires you to do homework regularly and to a good standard. If you do not have a good homework record then this may not be the subject for you. You will need to hit deadlines and be prepared to develop detailed writing skills.

Course Assessment
There are three History papers in total worth 100% of the total grade.
Paper 1: Crime and Punishment - This paper focuses on change over time and has a source based depth Study on crime in Whitechapel.
Paper 2: This paper is split into two parts which are both sat in the same exam session.
Part 1: Superpower relations and the Cold War - This paper focuses on the consequences of the Cold War. #
Part 2: Anglo-Saxon England - This paper is a depth study requiring students to explain and describe the events of the Norman Conquest.
Paper 3: Wiemar and Nazi Germany - This paper is source based enquiring focusing on both the reliability of sources and how historical events have been interpreted by historians.
Due to the extended writing element, a minimum of a predicted Grade 5 in English is required

Apart from being interesting for its own sake it shows that you can demonstrate the ability to:
Do investigative study, evaluate evidence and retain detailed knowledge as well as write what you know to a good or excellent standard. These skills are useful in all walks of life.
History is a subject that is useful for almost any career and it is considered to be a good subject to study if you are interested in Law, Journalism, Social Services, Civil Service and International Business.
