Key Stage 3 Curriculum Learning Journey
Our Food and Nutrition learning journey
All students in years 7-9 study Food and nutrition.
By the end of year 9, all students can:
Understand and apply the principles of nutrition and health
Cook a repertoire of predominantly savoury dishes
Be competent in a range of cooking techniques
Understand the source, seasonality and characteristics of ingredients
Students will:
Apply the principles of nutrition and health when selecting ingredients
Demonstrate a range of cooking techniques including:
pastry, bread making, making fresh pasta, soups, and sauces
Produce a range of healthy dishes such as: fruit salad, pasta salad, vegetable stir fry and fruit crumble.
