Week 8
Today's Advisory will follow the 1 hour Advisory bell schedule.
After annoucements, freshmen will report to the auditorium for an assembly about the Career Center.
Freshman homeroom teachers should accompany their homerooms to the auditorium and remain there for the duration. It should not take the entire Advisory period.
The full 8-week rotation schedule is provided below:
All sophomores will remain in their homerooms for each of the 8 SAT math workshops.
All students and homeroom teachers will need to join the SAT Prep Math Google Classroom. The Google Classroom code is:
tz6grtgd
Homeroom teachers should join the Google Meet via Google Classroom and project the Meet on the screen so that all students can see and hear it. Your camera does not need to be on.
Throughout the Advisory, teachers should ensure that students are following along with the lesson.
Remind students to bring their charged Chromebook, as well as headphones that can be used with their Chromebook.
SAT Enrichment - First 40 Minutes
For the first forty minutes of homeroom, students should complete the following two tasks: senior SAT panel visit & homeroom gimkit competition
SAT PANEL VISIT: A group of seniors will be stopping by your homeroom for ten minutes to conduct a "panel" discussion around the SAT. The schedule is below. Students in the panel were asked to come with some tips and tricks to share with your juniors. Please have your homeroom generate some questions to ask the seniors as well. Ideas for questions could include:
Tips and tricks that helped you succeed on the SAT
Study strategies that worked for you
Honest insights about test day and preparation
Answers to questions juniors have about the exam
GIMKIT COMPETITION: On the SAT Google Classroom, a series of links will be posted on Google Classroom. When your homeroom is not being visited by the panel, please direct students to select the link assigned to your homeroom (it will be the teacher's last name). They can play the GiimKit either with a partner or individually. The homeroom with the highest accuracy score will win donuts for their homeroom at an upcoming advisory.
Digital Readiness Check - Last 20 Minutes
Following the SAT activity, students will complete the digital readiness check in advance of next week's SAT. Students will stay in their regular homeroom with their homeroom teachers. This may be different than the proctors and rooms on the actual test day. Please review the information shared separately from Dave DeCarli and Amy Carbutti (also available below). One person should retrieve the testing bin from the main office before Advisory.
Seniors are with their regular homerooms today to complete the planned activities. Please make sure your students stay with you rather than wander to other homerooms.
A select number of seniors will be visiting Junior homerooms as part of a panel discussion about the SAT. See the list below and remind these students in case they forget. They should rejoin your homeroom with about 20 minutes left in homeroom.
