Friday, January 9, 2026
With the semester ending shortly and exams beginning on Tuesday, January 20th, use this Advisory period to prepare students for midterm exams and to meet with students individually to discuss where they stand in their classes:
Accomplishment Sheets (Grades 9-11)
Folders will be placed in homeroom teacher mailboxes by Thursday - be sure to pick up prior to Advisory on Friday. Please have students fill out their accomplishment sheets with activities, sports, honors, jobs, etc. from this year. Please return folders to Lori K.
Diploma Name Verification (Grade 12)
Index cards with student names will be placed in homeroom teacher mailboxes by Thursday - be sure to pick up prior to Advisory on Friday. Complete the following steps:
Ask Seniors to carefully review the spelling of their name on the index card.
Double check FIRST, MIDDLE, AND LAST name spelling. If a student does not have their entire name on the card, then we do not have that on file.
This is how it will be spelled on their diploma and the commencement program.
If it is correct, they should initial and date.
If it is not, please have them write the correct spelling, and initial and date the card.
Please collect them back and return to Guidance by the end of the day. If a student is not in Homeroom, place that card in the front of the alphabetized pile.
Tutoring Lab/Writing Center Reminder
Remind homerooms that the Tutoring Lab and Writing Center is available to assist students as they complete end-of-the semester assignments and prepare for exams. Tutors are available all periods every day.
Midterm Prep
A copy of the exam schedule is available below. This can be distributed to students so they can fill it in and see when each of their exams are scheduled.
A study plan calendar is also provided. Students can fill this out to help them plan when to best study for each exam and balance other obligations they may have. Feel free to distribute to students if this is something that will be helpful to your homeroom.
Go over exam procedures with students (importance of studying and study techniques, being on time to school, weighting, etc.).
Have students share study tips that have worked for them in the past.
Grade Check-Ins
Homeroom teachers should split up the roster and meet with students individually to go through their grades and discuss where they stand.
When students are not meeting with a teacher, they should be organizing their materials and creating a study plan for midterms.
