A zoom invite will be sent to your child via their email or number shared with them through text or phone.
Grades K-12
What is Zoom?
Zoom is a platform that allows teachers to video conference with their students. Teachers are able to live video teach, record and interact with their students and families in large groups, small groups and one-on-one. Teachers are able to share content with students on their screen and demonstrate using platforms the students are familiar with. Students can also call in to hear if they do not have a computer with internet accessible.
How do I help my child Log In?
Your child will be sent a zoom link that will invite them to the their individual class session. Students do NOT schedule their own zoom meetings.
Students may have multiple zoom links and meetings to attend during the school day.
If your child is having difficulty with zoom they can contact:

Getting started with zoom on Chromebooks.
Attendee Controls in a Meeting
Updating Zoom- If you are getting an error message (Ooops Zoom (extension ID is blocked by the administration) or prompt that zoom needs an update please do the following:
Note: The update should run from any wireless signal and shouldn't require RCS wireless to complete
Tip 1:
Open the browser
Select the 3 vertical dots on the upper right. This will open Chrome settings.
Select: Help
Select: About Chrome: If an update is available it will start to process automatically. If it doesn't you are given the option to search for a new version. (Current Chrome version 79)
If this does not work please contact the RCS Help Desk at 336-627-2700 or email them at helpdesk@rock.k12.nc.us
Tip 2:
It may be a case of the student not having the Zoom extension even though RCS sent this to all chromebooks (it may have been blocked). It may be necessary to delete the user profile on the Chromebook and login with another. To do this:
1. Right click the user profile on the home screen of the Chromebook
2. Delete the users
3. Add the user again and log back in
Tip 3:
There is an option to open the meeting in the browser.
The message should be listed in light blue lettering.
It will open a browser window as opposed to using the extension to initiate the meeting.
