The "Be Bold" Scholarship is a no-essay scholarship that will be awarded to the applicant with the boldest profile. It takes less than 2 minutes to apply.
To us, boldest does not mean "best", or "most accomplished". Being bold means being:
A) Earnest
B) Determined
C) Moving
The scholarship will be awarded to the student whose profile is most bold, according to these characteristics.
Furthermore, the scholarship will be unique in that it will favor students who apply earlier-who are bold and seize the day without procrastinating.

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who will be majoring in STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math).
Eligibility:
High school students who have been accepted to college and students who are currently enrolled in a college or university are eligible to apply for the JMJ Phillip Group college scholarship program. Additionally, the following criteria must be met for a student to be eligible to apply:
— Students must be currently enrolled in a U.S.-based high school or college. Students graduating from high school must plan to attend college during the fall semester in the same year as the application.
— Eligible colleges include two-year and four-year universities in the United States.
— Students who apply must have a minimum GPA of 3.6. Current (unofficial) transcripts must be sent with the application.
High school students who are applying must have a letter of acceptance from the college they intend to attend. A copy of this letter must be included in the application.
— One letter of reference must be included in the application. This letter must come from one of the following sources: a current or former teacher of the student, or a current or former employer of the student.
In addition to these requirements, students applying for the scholarship must submit a 500- to 1,000-word essay. The essay must be written in response to the prompt:

Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by an evaluation of the essays that are submitted.
Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.
You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.
How to Apply

The Brinkley-Lane Scholars Award is the most prestigious scholarship offered at East Carolina University. Students wishing to be considered for the Brinkley-Lane Scholars Award will first need to be accepted into the Honors College.
Eligibility:
Admission to the Honors College at East Carolina University is competitive and by invitation only. Students wishing to be considered for admission into the Honors College or any of its programs first need to meet minimum eligibility criteria to receive an invitation to apply:
Submit a completed application for undergraduate admission to East Carolina University by the priority deadline of October 20.
Meet the following minimum criteria within high school achievement categories:
Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.7 and/or minimum weighted GPA of 4.0
SAT & ACT scores will not be considered in our admissions process. Students who do not submit test scores will not be at a disadvantage in our admission process.
Students who meet the above criteria will receive an invitation by mail within the ECU acceptance packet to complete the Honors College application online through ECU Academic Works. The deadline for submitting the completed Honors College application and all associated materials is December 4.
