IP Course

The IP is a new course for Rits Uji junior high school students that builds on the success of our previous IP stream. The course is specially designed for young people interested in immersing themselves in Japanese culture at a renowned private school, while engaging in a core of internationally-oriented academic subjects. The IP course accommodates Japanese and non-Japanese students who have good levels of English and basic Japanese communication skills.

IPは、Rits Ujiの中学生を対象とした新しいコースで、これまでのIPストリームの成功を踏まえたものです。このコースは、有名な私立学校で日本文化に浸りながら、国際的に通用するアカデミックな科目を学ぶことに興味のある若者のために特別にデザインされています。IPコースでは、英語力と基本的な日本語コミュニケーション能力を有する日本人および外国人の生徒が受講できます。

Academic curriculum

The IP course divides the junior high school curriculum into core academic subjects that are suited to being studied in English, and other subjects, such as JSL, that are best studied in Japanese to enhance students' cultural awareness.

English language subjects are taught by experienced IB teaching staff, and all teachers are licensed with the Ministry of Education. IP Course students are awarded the Japanese junior high school certificate on successful completion of Grade 9, and are uniquely prepared for direct entry into our IB Diploma Course.

学科カリキュラム

IPコースでは、中学校のカリキュラムを、英語での学習に適したコア教科と、JSLなどの文化的認識を高めるために日本語での学習に適した教科に分けています。

英語科目は、経験豊富なIB教員が担当し、すべての教員は文部科学省の免許を取得しています。IPコースの生徒は、9年生を修了すると日本の中学校卒業資格が授与され、IBディプロマコースへの直接入学が可能となります。

Subjects in English

Core subjects are taught in English by IB Department staff. The subject syllabi are crafted to fully satisfy Ministry of Education requirements, while ensuring that students develop the fundamental knowledge, skills and attitudes for success in the IB Course.

Home rooms

IP students have their own dedicated homerooms, managed by Japanese and native English speaking IB staff. In the homeroom, IP students have regular hands-on opportunities to engage with Japanese school life and learn more about traditional culture, as well as exploring core IB curriculum elements such as the Learner Profile and the Approaches to Learning.

ホームルーム

IPの生徒には、日本人と英語を母国語とするIBスタッフが管理する専用のホームルームがあります。ホームルームでは、日本の学校生活を体験したり、伝統的な文化を学んだり、学習者プロファイルや学習へのアプローチなど、IBカリキュラムの中核となる要素を学ぶ機会が定期的に設けられています。

Clubs and non-academic life

IP students are encouraged to make the most of their junior high school life by taking part in our school club system and other non-academic events and opportunities. We fully believe that club participation is a great way to make friends, learn new skills, and strengthen personal character. There are a variety of club activities available to IP Course students as members of the junior high school, including sporting (baseball, tennis, American football, etc) and cultural groups (tea ceremony, calligraphy).

IPの生徒は、学校のクラブシステムやその他の学業以外のイベントや機会に参加することで、中学校生活を最大限に楽しむことができます。クラブ活動に参加することは、友達を作り、新しいスキルを学び、個人の個性を強化するための素晴らしい方法であると、私たちは確信しています。IPコースの生徒が中学校のメンバーとして参加できるクラブ活動には、スポーツ系（野球、テニス、アメリカンフットボールなど）や文化系（茶道、書道など）など、さまざまなものがあります。

Our goal

On completion, our goal is for IP Course students to have an intimate understanding of Japanese culture, as well as the knowledge, skills and moral grounding to step confidently into our IB Course, or any other top-level educational course in the world.
