Katie attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, IA, and obtained her Associate of Arts degree in 2014. She then attended Iowa State University and graduated in May of 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies, with an emphasis in the area of adults and youth. During her time at Iowa State, Katie was employed as a Direct Support Professional for hourly services in Des Moines, Iowa, where she grew her passion for working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
After graduation, Katie moved to Northeast Iowa with her now husband, who grew up in the area. Katie started her employment with RISE Ltd. in August 2016, working as a Personal Coach in the Elkader Day Habilitation program until January 2017, when she was promoted to Day Habilitation Team Lead. In 2019, she took on the role of Director of Day Habilitation and Daily SCL Services, also supervising the Breezy Group Home in Elkader until July 2020. Katie’s role then transitioned to helping open the Day Habilitation program in Oelwein, Iowa.
Since December 2022, Katie has served as the Assistant Executive Director. In this role, she oversees CARF accreditation, HCBS surveys, and Residential Care Facility regulations for the agency’s RCF. She also supervises the agency’s quality assurance process, submits agency billing, and also assists the Executive Director.
In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband and their daughter, Claire, as well as family and friends. She also enjoys reading, shopping, and going for walks.
