Physical wellness includes things like eating, moving your body, sleeping, and practicing good hygiene habits. Taking care of your physical health and well-being is crucial for a happy and fulfilling life. It's also important to avoid harmful habits and make responsible decisions, as well as prioritize adequate rest and seek medical assistance when necessary. By taking care of your physical health, you can improve your overall quality of life and feel better both physically and mentally.
For RISD students, making sure you're getting enough rest and taking breaks to move throughout the day and balancing work and wellness can be challenging, but making responsible decisions can help improve your overall quality of life and well-being.
Some questions you might ask yourself include:
Am I getting enough sleep? (Do I feel rested when I wake up)
Am I drinking enough water? (A good way to tell if you are hydrated is from the color of your pee. The more hydrated you are, the lighter and clearer your urine will be)
Am I eating enough food to sustain my body? (Meals and snacks throughout the day)
Am I sitting or standing too long? (Take breaks consistently)
Am I taking breaks throughout the day to fulfill the points listed above? (Finding time to eat, rest, move, and socialize throughout the day)
Am I working even if I am feeling sick or unwell? (It’s important to give your body time to recover when you aren’t feeling well)
Am I practicing safer sex? (Using STI prevention methods and getting tested regularly)
Am I practicing safe substance use? (Monitoring substance intake, utilizing harm reduction practices)
Do I receive medical care for prevention? (Annual check-ups for your body, your eyes, teeth, and necessary specialists)
