In the TK-1st grade classroom, the students read about plants and how they cannot survive without water or sun. As the children learned the parts of a plant, the teachers informed the children about their mascot, a chirping bird. The chirping sounds can be translated to “keep learning kids, keep learning.”

In the TK-1 grade classroom, the teachers gave the students a new word to learn. The students learned the word corn. They learned that corn is a tall plant grown on a stalk, but the stalk must be removed before consumption. While they were learning, one of the teachers pulled out a popcorn pumper, which turned corn kernels into a delicious snack. After, the students made their own corn with finger paints, handprints, and paper plates.

They learned through a book that told them about how pigs weigh 3 lbs at birth, eat dry food when they are older, move from pen to pen in order to reproduce, etc. They made a pig as a project and it was posted on the wall with their other animal projects.
