The Launchpad and Rockpool are areas in our school where our learners can develop additional curricular skills to support their learning and personal development.
Our learners build essential skills: pro-social friendships, emotional regulation, function skills, communication and early listening and talking skills.
In addition to this, learners access the areas for check in’s and transitional support to enable opportunities to reset, ready again for learning in a whole class setting.
For some learners in Key Stage 2, the Launchpad offers soft starts during the school day. Children can access these at the start of the day, after break and after lunch. This supports children to transition into their classroom ready for learning. This also gives opportunities for the children to speak to a member of the pastoral team if they are worried or upset about something, helping to address difficulties in the moment. For some learners in Key Stage 1, the Rockpool will offer a similar provision. Children have access to interventions, check ins, and resets as needed, in order for them to be ready to learn.
Not all learners will use these spaces but all learners can, if they need to, to learn and rehearse essential skills which will enable the same access as all and opportunities for successful learning and play in all areas of school life.
We have high expectations for all our learners at Ringmer and this is structured with high support. This raft of support takes place in the Launchpad, Rockpool, in the classrooms and around our school. We endeavour to promote consistency and promote prosocial behaviours in all areas of our learning.
