Children wear old clothes to school (arms and legs covered). Please provide waterproof coat, trousers and wellies if the weather is wet.

Tuesday - PE
Reception children wear their school uniform to school on PE days. This is because getting dressed into their PE kit is a key part of our learning in Reception. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school in a named PE bag. Yellow T shirt, black shorts and trainers/plimsolls. Jumpers and tracksuit bottoms/leggings in colder weather. The PE bag can stay on your child's peg and will get sent home at the end of term to be washed.
Please name water bottles, lunch boxes and all items of clothing.

Ethos and Vision for our children
Our children are at the heart of everything that we do and we build our curriculum around their needs and interests. We observe, assess, teach and review impact through 'In the moment planning' using play as the vehicle for learning. Our children free flow through out the day between engaging and purposefully organised inside and outside environments. Early reading, writing, phonics and maths skills are taught in short directed teaching inputs, the children then apply these skills independently in our enabling environment. The children's interests drive the themes for our learning journey enquiry question as well as seasonal changes and celebrations. We aim to capture the awe and wonder of childhood making every moment memorable so our children learn deeply and can apply their skills in different contexts. We build a strong home school partnership to ensure our children feel secure and blended learning is consistent and playful.

How will I know what my child will be learning in school and how can I support this at home?
On EvidenceMe we upload wow moments for your child where they have demonstrated meeting a next step or goal that they were aiming towards.
We will share with you your child's individual learning plan which outlines their next steps for each aspect of learning. We capture the child's and parent's voice when co-creating this plan to ensure that we all work together to meet the needs of your child. Your child's first plan will be shared with you during parent consultations. Thess are TBC.
We run a parents phonics workshop and 'meet the teacher' sessions to ensure a strong home partnership. More details will follow soon.
Once the children have settled into their new learning environment we will invite parents in for stay and play sessions and to support with reading.
We will send home each term a knowledge organiser. In the below sections you can find the knowledge organiser for this term and an explanation of what a knowledge organiser is.

Outlined in the document below are the waves of provision we use to support children with additional needs. Support is tailored to each individual and provided as needed, with or without a diagnosis. Please talk to your child's class teacher if you have any concerns about your child, their needs or the provision in class. Welcome to Angelfish and Starfish Class!
This term is all about helping the children settle into Angelfish and Starfish class as they begin their exciting journey at Ringmer Primary and Nursery School. We spend time getting to know each other, discovering what we have in common, and celebrating what makes each of us unique.
Our focus is on learning routines, exploring our environment, and building strong relationships. We also follow the children’s interests, using them as meaningful vehicles for learning and engagement.
We begin the term by immersing ourselves in the story The Naughty Bus. Through imaginative activities, role play, and Drawing Club, we explore the exciting adventures of the Naughty Bus and create our own journey stories. We also share journeys we’ve been on and learn about different types of transport.
As the term progresses, we explore the seasonal change into autumn, engaging with the natural world through hands-on exploration inspired by our rich text The Leaf Thief.
