The Design Process - Mr. Fazio

In this course students will solve real world problems using math, science, and technology. Activities will include using the problem solving design loop. Student learning activities will promote imagination, judgment, and reasoning skills. Research, designing and drawing, some woodworking, and engineering challenges will be incorporated in student centered learning activities.
Language Development and Proficiency (ELLs) - Ms. Rodriguez

The summer is a great time to work with English language learners (ELLs)! Our Summer Language Development and Proficiency program will focus on individual student needs and help students hone their skills and practice their speaking, writing and listening skills by varied interactive activities. Programs such as this can help students improve their WIDA scores, boost self confidence and prepare them for the following school year all while having some fun!
How to develop a quality high school resume - Mrs. Perry

This course is open to students of all grade levels looking to create a high school resume utilizing resources within the school and local community. Students entering high school will be educated on the opportunities available at this high school level. Students who are current sophomores through seniors will gain understanding of how to organize a resume as well as how a resume will be reviewed as a prospective employee or college admissions candidate. Attention to formatting, use of distinct-supported technology such as Naviance and review school/ community based resources will be discussed to best support each student.
Reading, Writing and Connections to History - Mr. Verdon

This course will delve into the reading and writing skills essential for all history classes. Particular attention will be placed on the thinking skills needed to craft DBQs and other writing assignments completed within our curriculum. Students will practice locating historical sources using databases, evaluating them, and utilizing them in assignments effectively. Concepts like contextualization, close reading, thesis writing, and document evaluation will all be explored. The course will also focus on the recognition of historical themes over time and the analysis of primary sources. This course will run from 9:30am-12:30pm.
Creative Art through Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture - Ms. Higbie

In this course students will be building upon their prior art knowledge as well as exploring new techniques in the art studio. Students will work to develop their skills in one of the following mediums; drawing, painting, and/or ceramics & sculpture. The week-long course will consist of conceptualizing an idea, planning the idea, and creating their work of art in the medium of their choice. Students will be given a list of prompts at the beginning of the week.
